Hive Snapshots: Building a Global Beekeeper Network

Today we announce the beta release of Hive Snapshots: a way to share your BuzzBox beehive sensor data, digital journals, photos, observations, and chat with fellow bee lovers throughout the world. Here's how to make your own hive snapshots.

OSBeehives beekeeping app used to monitor a beehive

Using the free OSBeehives beekeeping app, set up your own hive, you don't need a BuzzBox to do this, and make a hive journal entry. Hive journals are digital inspection records that track your colony stats, observations, harvests, and treatments.

Once you finish making your entry, view it in the app timeline and click the share button. You can select what kind of data you want to post, and then submit. For now, Hive Snapshots are only viewable on the website, but soon they'll appear in a feed in the app. This is what they look like:

At the bottom of the snapshot, you can discuss the data with beekeepers, ask questions, and share what you learn. We'll be steadily adding new features to this part of our platform, so stay tuned.

Important Note: OSBeehives provides data-driven insights into bee colony health and beekeeping practices. Part of these insights are based on reports by individual beekeepers. While we have made attempts to ensure that the displayed data is correct, OSBeehives is not responsible for any errors, omissions, or the results obtained from the use of this information.
